Pune: An alleged incident of forcibly entering a flat in an upscale housing society in Kondhwa, threatening residents with a knife, assaulting them and recording the incident on a mobile phone before circulating the video on social media has come to light.

Republican Party of India (RPI) secretary Sanghamitra Gaikwad has levelled serious allegations against relatives of former corporator Jaydev Randhave and demanded immediate action from the police administration.

Addressing a press conference, Gaikwad alleged that the accused persons forcibly entered her flat in Pune and got into a dispute with her son Buddhesh, daughter Buddhisha, wife Vaishali Jaydev Randhave, Bhavik Prajapati and other family members. She alleged that the family members were threatened with a knife and physically assaulted.

She further alleged that the entire incident was recorded on a mobile phone and later circulated on various social media platforms, causing damage to her social and political reputation.

According to Gaikwad, a complaint has been filed at Kondhwa Police Station, and a case has also been registered. However, she alleged that despite the complaint, no strong or effective action has so far been taken against the accused.

Gaikwad also alleged that gold, important documents related to a college and nursing college, ICICI Bank documents, her daughter’s important papers, an iPhone, furniture, clothes, a gas cylinder and other valuable belongings were present in the flat. She claimed that although a panchnama of her phone was conducted, the alleged assault on her and other belongings inside the house were not properly documented.

She further alleged that people were brought into and kept inside her house without her permission. Gaikwad said that following the alleged assault, she had to be admitted to a hospital for treatment.

The Gaikwad family subsequently met senior police officials and placed their grievances before them. They also said that the matter would be taken up with the State Women’s Commission, the Chief Minister and the Home Minister.

The family met the Police Commissioner and demanded appropriate legal action in the matter. According to the family, the Police Commissioner took detailed information about the case and directed the concerned officials to take necessary action.

Sanghamitra Gaikwad said the matter concerns the safety and dignity of a woman political worker. She demanded immediate legal action against those allegedly involved and warned that if appropriate action was not taken within two days, a protest would be launched.

The allegations made in the matter have not been independently verified. The exact facts of the incident will become clear based on the police investigation and statements from both sides.
