Alka Bhatnagar was born in a musical family. Alka is a versatile talented artist. Her mentor was her father Shri Brijendra Nath Srivastava ‘Falak’ from whom she received her formal training in music. After that, she took music teaching from the great talented Sangeet Samrat, out of which Pandit Ganesh Prasad Mishra Lucknow, Altaf Hussain Hyderabad , Goswami ji of Bareilly in addition to many other knowledgeable and talented gurus. She did many programs at All India Radio Rampur, Lucknow, Pune, Jammu & Kashmir, Hyderabad etc. She also did many patriotic programs (Desh Prem Ke) and Sugam Sangeet  at Lucknow TV. Alka participated in many prestigious competitions and always got first place such as in I.I.T Kanpur where she got first place in both light and classical music.

She moved to Bombay from U.P. where she was honored & received trophies from Shri Raj Kapoor, Raj Kumar ji, Khayyam Sahab etc. at various events. She continuously recorded many albums and also sung with Shri Anoop Jalota, Kumar Sanu, Udit Narayan, Shaan , Javed Ali, Suresh Wadekar, Bappi Lahiri & Munna Aziz . She did many concerts for Indian soldiers and their families at borders & across the country. She entertained them at no charge.

    Alka Bhatnagar is a famous singer in America & famously known as a melody queen. She gave many programs and promoted Indian culture and music. Alka Bhatnagar is the founder and Guru of ‘Sur Bahar’ a premier music school in America, where music is taught to young children to elders. Alka Bhatnagar was conferred with ‘U. P. Ratna Award’ by U.P. Government in the field of music and nominated her as Grand Ambassador in USA to promote Indian music, art and culture globally.

Alka Bhatnagar received the Best NRI Singer Award for two consecutive years at the Delhi International Film Festival. She was honored with the Best Singer Award amongst participants who took part from 140 countries at the very prestigious Rumi World Music Awards held in America.

Alka was honored with the ‘Maharshi Charak’ award in 2018 by Mr. Maurya, Dy CM of U.P. she She was also conferred award (by California State Assembly USA) as “Hero of 2020”. She has performed numerous concerts in India and abroad.
